Many European steel producers participate in the Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) data collection study for steel products. LCI data is a summary of the inputs and outputs needed to make a steel product from cradle-to-gate, and for recycling the steel at end-of-life. The steel industry publishes the most comprehensive and reliable steel life cycle inventory data available today. The data conforms to ISO 14040: 2006 and ISO 14044: 2006 and is available for different steel products and for different regions of the world. The data is available free-to-use in many LCA software provided databases, but can also be made available by filling in the relevant enquiry form:
